Economic Citizenship - IntroductionWith prohibitive taxation, control of private capital and travel restrictions becoming more prevalent in many parts of the world, people of substance are seeking alternatives to enable them to protect their assets and income and to travel more freely throughout the world.
Two Caribbean jurisdictions offer Economic Citizenship through Government sponsored investment legislation. The goal is to accelerate resort development and stimulate the growth of the tourist industry. This unique concept provides for Citizenship, Passports, and Permanent Residence, if desired, in these beautiful countries; both of which are world class international tax havens.
While there are a number of jurisdictions around the world where citizenship is available in various forms, IMT offers the two jurisdictions which we consider to be the most desirable for our clients; the island nations of Dominica and St. Kitts/Nevis.
At present, there is increasing interest in the St. Kitts/Nevis programme. Although the cost is higher than Dominica, the citizenship includes a tangible real estate asset. In addition, St. Kitts/Nevis citizenship is particularly highly regarded and citizens do not require a visa for travel to Canada; whereas visas are required for Belize, Dominica, Grenada and Panama.
Further, the St. Kitts/Nevis government does not require the applicant to visit for a personal interview; thus the process is less complex than in Dominica.
